In 1990, I took my first overseas buying trip to the Philippines. I was immediately overwhelmed by the incredible hospitality and skills of the local artisans and craftsmen. During this trip they took me under their wing. I quickly realized that these people were not just my suppliers, but they were also my friends.
Since that first trip in 1990, I have made many more friends across the globe. I’ve supported and worked with dozens of artisans in Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, China, India, Malaysia and the United States. Tom’s Home & Garden is a direct result of all those trips.
